Almighty God, whose Son is the light of the world: may we your people be illumined by his light, as we encounter it in Word and Sacrament; and may we shine with the radiance of his own glory; that he may be known and worshiped to the ends of the earth; in whose gracious name we pray. Amen

Loving God: your Son is indeed the Messiah for whom earth has longed; in him we find the source of all truth and grace. Forgive us for seeking other Messiahs – for looking for truth in the regions of falsehood, and for seeking grace in the land of brutes. Send your Spirit to direct our gaze anew, and fix our eyes upon Jesus, whose disciples we would be, and in whom we offer our prayer. Amen.
