Our Beliefs

Presbyterians affirm that God comes to us in grace and love in the person of Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus lived, died, and rose again to offer the free gift of eternal and abundant life to all who believe. As disciples of Christ, we seek to continue his mission of teaching the truth of God’s word, feeding the hungry, healing the broken-hearted, and welcoming strangers. God sends the Holy Spirit to dwell within us, supplying us the energy, intelligence, and imagination to serve as Christ’s disciples in our ever-changing world.

There are roughly 10,000 Presbyterian congregations worshipping in the United States, with many more worldwide. Each congregation engages their community in order to live and serve with God’s love.

Many of the members of First Presbyterian Church arrived here from a variety of faith backgrounds. For some, this is their first experience in a community of faith. Holding us together is our common desire to know, worship, and serve Christ. We welcome each visitor where they are and invite all to travel with us in faith.

We affirm that all persons are created in the image of God and are beloved children of God. Though no one can be faithful enough to earn God’s grace and mercy, it is freely given to those who believe and obey.
